National Army Museum

In our continuing effort to visit London museums, we went to the National Army Museum. The Max went dressed as a cowboy (it was purely coincidental). This worked out well with the War Horse exhibit that they had going. But his favorite part was likely the soft play Kids Zone. He also was kind of excited and grossed out both by the skeleton of Napoleon’s horse (though he really has no idea who Napoleon is as yet). Next favorite bits were the cannons. The Max is very big on cannons.

Notting Hill Carnival

Daddy and Mommy were both sick for Carnival this year, but luckily for The Max, there was no need to go anywhere because the Carnival came to us! Bassett Road is one of the “feeder” roads for the parade route (which goes right along Ladbroke Grove) so all we had to do was sit on the front stoop and watch people go by.

Of course, as everyone is in an incredibly good mood (which could have been the rum they were all drinking, even in the morning), we also had to go out and mingle a bit in the road. Amazingly, a few people remembered Max from last year (Hey, said a couple of women, isn’t he the boy who was dressed up as a pirate last year??). This year, he spent the first day as a superhero ninja guy and the second day he was a Roman gladiator.

I can’t help but think that someday (like in 15 years) Max is going to look back at these pictures of himself with the dressed up ladies and go Man! I wonder if I can get away with that now?

The Tiger Who Came to Tea

We went to the Tiger Who Came to Tea at the Lyric Theatre today. Max had a lovely time and laughed his head off. He especially liked the tiger aerobics.

Thai Tho

At Thai Tho for lunch before going to the Tiger Who Came to Tea!

Story Lab

Max completed the Story Lab summer reading challenge and earned his gold medal! He read 6 books all by himself!

Wenlock and Mandeville

Max seriously loves the Olympic mascots. LOVES. So he’s been super excited when Daddy takes him around in the city to find the painted ones. Our fav is the Londinium one.

Bank of England Museum

We went to the Bank of England Museum today. Max completed the seek and find and earned himself a badge. He especially liked attempting to lift a real gold bar (28 lbs.!), the puzzles, and trying to control inflation vis a vis a hot air balloon display.

Javelin

The gods on Mount Olympus threw down a javelin at Westfield Mall.

Waterpark and picnic

Max says it is “two thumbs up plus two thumbs up plus two thumbs up” for our excursion today. The picnic included pom bears, nutella and peanut butter sandwiches and the chocolate chip cookies we baked this morning. And lots of splashing and silly grins.
