Animal Tracker Max

Today I took Max to the Holland Park Ecology Centre for a workshop on Animal Tracks.

They did some worksheets and word searches and learned about tracks and poop and other animal signs.

And learned how to make a “trap” with flour and peanut butter to capture tracks (there were some good wood mouse prints at this one).

And he even made a plaster cast of a fox print.

Climbing

Max’s first climbing lesson with some friends.

Hyper Japan

We checked out Hyper Japan today.

Crazy cowds, lotsa noise, and cool costumes.

Max had fun.

And we tried weird flavour Kit Kat bars.

And saw bonsai.

And sushi.

The Red Lemon

Max eating (and seriously enjoying) volcanic salt on his chips at The Red Lemon on All Saints Rd.

Poet for Hire

While wandering on Southbank with Auntie and David, we ran into a poet for hire.

Max paid him a pound and said he wanted a poem about dragons (the movie being fresh in his mind). We didn’t have time to wait for a long poem, so I told him a haiku was fine.

Well done to the poet for a fun poem.

Churchill War Rooms

We went to the Churchill War Rooms while Auntie Es was here.

Max enjoyed it, especially the museum part with all the interactive bits. The boy does pay attention…he surprised me with a few facts about the war afterwards!

How to Train Your Dragon 2

Catching up…Max went to the movie with his best girl (they wound up sitting in the same seat). Loved the movie!

Tate Britain

We went to a new museum today. Tate Britain (not Tate Modern, which we have been to before).

We tried the drop in art thing. Very free form. Max made tanks and angry birds and rockets.

And we saw cool art.

Lots of it.

Even a giant Jerry (though that may not have been the artist’s intention).

Lunch was at nearby pub. They have a ghost cam down in the basement where a prison used to be.

Auntie Es and Dave

On Saturday, Auntie Es and Dave arrived from San Francisco. We hadn’t seen them in years. Not since Max was 6 months old!

We walked them around Portobello, had the obligatory fish and chips at a pub, and wound our way back through Hyde park.

We stopped off at the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain wherein David wasn’t sure what to make of Max stripping to hop in.

Even Daddy stuck his feet in.

Auntie and David weren’t brave enough for that. 🙂 Max was excited to run into a couple of his friends too.

Last day of school & the Venture Fun Park

The last day of school came and went. Max is now officially in Form 2! After the half day was a picnic in the park with a bunch of his friends (wherein I did not manage to take even a single picture).

The next day was a Fun Day at Venture Adventure Park, a local place I had no idea existed! We will have to go back. I also didn’t manage to take any pictures there…though I did manage to take one at our Pizza East lunch after.

That’s Max with his favourite girl. Can you tell? They shared a crispy pork belly pizza and giggles.
