London Docklands Museum

We checked out the Docklands Museum after dropping Emily off at the London City Airport. Max did a family activity map and learned all about pirates.

And saw a giant whale jawbones.

And made a diorama. Max says it was pretty cool.

Crafty

Max had a hole in his jeans, so we fixed it.

Sewing and Crafting

Max and I went to a sewing and crafting expo today with Emily and my friend Paula.

Max tried out sewing for the first time.

And we bought a kit for later. He wants to make an owl!

He also made a leather bracelet. He liked the hammering part.

We all also made a silk painting.

We got lots of stuff for future projects!!

Bel Canto and end of term

Today was the last day of Spring Term. Max got out of school at noon and we ate sushi because that is how the boy rolls.

Then he got dressed for dinner at Bel Canto.

He ate pork cheeks and listened to opera.

And had a jolly good time. On the way home he couldn’t stop giggling.

The Peace Child

Max’s play was today and it was a huge production! Lights! Camera! Action!

There was singing and a bit of dancing.

Max (and everyone) did a great job!

He was excited that Emily got to see it too.

London Super Comic Convention

For Mum’s Day we went to a Comic Book Convention at the ExCel Center.

Max was Star Lord.

Though he wasn’t the only one.

He also met Groot.

And ran into Daft Punk (which he was very excited about).

We even met Poison Ivy and Dead Pool.

And some of our fav Avatar characters.

Heck, all kinds of characters from every universe. And we picked up some new reading too!

Recital

Max had his first informal recital at school today. He played Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, though the music teacher had misunderstood and put it in the program as Salvation Army. Ha!

He rocked it. Most of the other kids (who were also all awesome) played piano. Some sang and there was a recorder. One other regular guitar player. It was mostly classical pieces and Mary Had a Little Lamb, other than Max. I wonder if he noticed that he was the only budding rock star.

It was too cute. They were all adorable with their little bows and curtsies after they finished performing.

And also good was that a boy who often teases Max over stuff actually came up to him after and told him “that was really cool”. The Power of Music, man. Rock on.

Max’s 7th Birthday Party

It was a pizza movie night slumber party extravaganza. With added disco ball.

Birthday cake with added sparkler.

Lots of movies and popcorn and snacks

Teeth brushing en masse.

Posing.

Both together and individually.

More movies and together time.

Big goodbyes.

It was Epic!

Pre-birthday party…

I think Max has been preparing for this birthday party since his last one. He was super excited. He had over 6 of his best buddies for a sleepover movie night.

We put up a red carpet back drop and tested it out.

Got the room (mostly) ready.

And made a cake…

Popcorn!

Testing out the popcorn maker for Max’s birthday slumber party tomorrow! He says it is “Epic!”
