See you soon, Letizia

Our friend Letizia is moving to France for awhile and came today to say goodbye to Max. We met her at The Dock Kitchen, one of Max’s favourite restaurants. As Max says, “Letizia is one of my best girls.” He even told her that he wouldn’t go back to the Dock Kitchen without her because he loves her more than flatbread. That’s saying a lot considering how much he loves flatbread. You have no idea. Trust me.

She played games with him and took a long walk in the park with us.

He even talked her into a playground.

And then we went to dinner at Saporitalia on Portobello, one of our standards. Of course, take the Italian girl to an Italian restaurant, right? Max had a wonderful time.

We finally had to say goodbye. After we parted, this was our conversation:

Max: I’m really not happy she’s going away.

Mommy: I know, but we’ll see her again. Maybe we can visit her in France.

Max: Does she have a husband?

Mommy: No, she doesn’t.

Max (after a moment’s thought): Does she have a wife then?

Mommy: No, she’s not married yet.

Max: But why not? I don’t understand! She lives all by herself?

Mommy: Well, she just hasn’t found her special someone yet.

Max, in deep thought and very serious: Maybe it’s me.

Mommy: Well, maybe, but you’re too young yet.

Max: I’ll get bigger and older some day. I won’t make her do the thing in a church or anything where the guy gives you a ring. I could just go buy one in a shop and then buy other stuff and have a party and everything. Then we could live in a house and go to the park all the time.

A Hoppy Easter

The Easter Bunny came for a visit and left behind a big chocolate egg and other goodies. There were also gummy filled eggs around the house too.

Yesterday we made Easter eggs. We blew out one of the goose eggs. I nearly made my head explode doing that.

But mostly we have been at the park sending off vinegar and baking soda rockets. And playing fetch.

Nerf Gun in the Park

Unloaded nerf gun war in the park with our neighbor, while shooting off vinegar and baking soda rockets.

Dancing Max

The one thing Max wanted to do on his Easter Break was go to Sarastro and see Colin Roy and dance. So we went last night. “I just love it!” says Max.

Handel House Museum

We checked a museum off the list today. We went to the Handel House near Bond Street.

We saw harpsichords and even saw people play them. We saw Handel’s toilet (or a reproduction of it) and lots of pictures.

Max dressed up while there:

And we learned that Jimi Hendrix had lived in the same house!

A buggy morning

We went on a proper bug hunt this morning.

Max found worms and creepy crawlies and slugs and spiders and snails.

And he set up a snail race.

Marley was curious but confused.

Pizza and Swimming and Flirting

So, we have movie and pizza night every Friday and we always get our pizza from Louie and Svetlana from Notting Dale Pizza because it is awesome and fast and they are great.

Louie has even brought Max his own official Notting Dale Pizza badge, which we have sewn on a shirt and he wears on pizza nights.

So, we have gotten to know them. Both of their daughters swim really well and one even has a chance at getting on the Macedonian Olympic Swim Team. We tried to go and watch Ana swim on Sunday at Crystal Palace but just missed it due to the Tube being insane from the London Marathon.

But we did hang out afterwards and have pizza. Max got his flirt on. He was happy.

Namco

One of the only things Max specifically asked to do was go to Namco in Southbank and play games. He is now the King of SkiBall.

Play dates

Forgot to post it on the days, but we have been filling our break time with play dates ! He has gone to a friend’s birthday party, done an Easter Crafts class, been to Queen’s Park with a bunch of friends from school, had Luke over (picnic in the park, pictures below) and Henry (water gun fight and Legos).

The spaceship fort:

Mom, I have a question

The Max: “Mom, I have an important question.” (very serious expression)

Me: “Okay, what is it?”

The Max: “Did Han Solo live?”

Me: “Yes.”

The Max: “The whole time?”

Me: “Yes.”

The Max: “What about when he was in the carbonite?”

Me: “Yes, he was just frozen, like cryogenically.”

The Max: “Oh, okay then.”
