We got a dog this weekend from a rescue in Essex. Tony had been thinking for awhile that Max needed a dog. As an only kid, he kind of needs a little pal. We had no idea it would be so hard to find one! We wanted a dog, not a puppy and of course assumed we would get him from a rescue. But try searching all the rescues in London for a dog they think is suitable for young kids and you won’t find any! It might just be the over cautious Englishness.
So we finally located two possibles out in Essex…which meant our first driving excursion driving on the other side of the road! We rented a car and went. The first dog was lovely and sweet but a bit big and shy. Max was lukewarm. Then Jasper was a cheeky half-corgi devil and Max was in heaven and giggling his head off.
It has been all ball throwing chaos since.
