Dogs at the park

Max found two dogs to play fetch with at the park inbetween rounds of baseball.

Bike!

Now that we are a bit farther from the school, Max needs to learn how to ride his big boy bike. Nice and sunny this morning so off to the park!

At the park at the end of our street.

New hat

We went to Golborne Rd today to buy a dining room table and chairs. Found a nice set. As a bonus, we also found a cool little top hat that fit Max to a T. The guy gave it to Max and he’s been making people smile all over Portobello.

Garden and Grill and Musical Theatre

Max tried out a musical theatre class (it was a free try out one) at the Poppy Maya Academy. He liked it all up until the end when he apparently didn’t like them putting him first because he was youngest (?). But he did enjoy the playing with an imaginary ball bit. So we’ll see.

On the way home he insisted on a snack, so we are at the Garden and Grill pub having spring rolls in the back garden. The Max approves.

A snapshot of The Max

Favorite Words: “actually” and “quite” (often used together…)

Favorite Foods: prawn toast, noodles, rice, spring rolls (tell me he’s not half-Chinese…), pappadom, maraschino cherries

Current Obsessions: nano bugs, Legos, Tom and Jerry (always), The Power Rangers, Mario Brothers (curse you, new Netflix subscription), implements of destruction (swords, catapults, bow and arrows, etc.), dress up

Age: Nearly four and a half (on Sept. 10th), but lately he’s been insisting that he’s getting bigger and bigger and bigger and must surely be at least 7

His Plan for his New Bedroom: Ninjago! Legos! The Color Red!

Max’s “I Like It” Face

Thai, of course

Daddy is out late tonight so I asked The Max what he wanted for dinner after his first day of school. So of course we wound up at the Thai place near our new house. Prawn toast and egg fried rice.

The Verdict

Max had a great first day of school today. He said Ms. Whiting was “really awesome” though apparently some new boy was “quite annoying” because he didn’t want to share. He only ate cucumber for lunch because the noodles had cheese (yuck, he says). And he got a house point for being a good listener.

First Day of School

The Max started reception (Lower 1) today. He’s a big boy now, wearing a uniform and everything. He was very excited and could hardly sit still through breakfast. We had a moment’s panic when we got out of the house and saw other kids walking by and realized that even with the summer uniform you still need the blazer and hat (though they take them off and hang them up pretty much immediately). So then we had a mad scramble to try and find his hat. Luckily Daddy found it and the day was saved. Can’t wait to pick him up at the end of the day and see what he thinks of his new teacher and classroom!
